Phone Types

Introduction

Phone Types specify an identifier for different phone number types. You can enter the Phone Types by clicking this icon:


This window displays the current list of defined phone number types. To locate an existing phone number type, enter the name (or partial name) in the dialogue box. Select the SEARCH button and all matching results will display.

 

 

Creating a new Phone Type

 

Select the NEW radio button to create a new phone number type. The window below displays. Enter the following information:

  • Enter the free text Name in the dialogue box (maximum 100 characters).
  • Enter a Comment to explain the phone type.
  • From the Communication Type dropdown menu, select from either Handheld, Mobile, or Skype.
  • Select the Active checkbox if the phone number type is to be used.

 

Once the parameters are defined, select the SAVE button. The information is committed to the database and the new entry appears in the existing list of items. To discard a new item before saving, select the CANCEL button. the information will be removed and the window closed.


 

Editing an existing Phone Type

 

Once a phone number type is added to the list, it can be amended using the following procedure.

Choose the Phone Type to be amended by selecting the checkbox and selecting the EDIT button. The phone number type details appear in a new window and can be edited as required. If more than one Phone Type is selected, each item appears in a separate window and can be edited. Once the required amendments have been made, select the SAVE button to commit the changes to the database.

 

Copying an existing Phone Type


A phone number type can be copied to create a new phone number type using the following procedure.

Choose the Phone Type to be copied by selecting the checkbox and selecting the COPY button. The EDIT dialogue window displays and the new parameters can be entered. Once the parameters have been defined, select the SAVE radio button to commit the changes to the database type. The changes can be discarded by selecting the CANCEL button and the parameters will not be committed to the database type.

 

Deleting an existing Phone Type

 

Phone Types that are no longer required can be deleted using the following procedure.

Choose the Phone Type to be deleted by selecting the checkbox and selecting the DELETE button. The Phone Type is removed from the database type and is no longer visible in the list of available types.
