Create a new Aircraft

This article describes the step-by-step procedure for creating a new aircraft from scratch. 

To do this, we need to define the following items in N-OC:

Window: Main Types

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Main Types

Description

Click the NEW button to create a new main type. 

• Enter the Name: "Aircraft"
• Enter the Shortcode: "AC"
• Click the Active checkbox and optionally the Default checkbox.
• Click the SAVE button.

Window: Aircraft Categories

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Categories

Description

Define the Aircraft Category:

For example:

• Enter the Name: "Turbo Prop".
• Enter the Shortcode: "T".
• Select Aircraft MainType: "Aircraft".
• Click the Active checkbox and optionally the Default checkbox.
• Click the SAVE button.

Window: Aircraft Type

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Aircraft Type

Description

Most aircraft types should already be predefined in N-OC. If you need to add a new one, enter the details as shown in the example screenshot above.

Note: Mandatory fields are shown with a red *.

Window: Aircraft Equipment

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Aircraft Equipment

Description

Define the Aircraft Equipment:

For example:

• Enter the Name: "Standard J32".
• Enter the Shortcode: "J32".
• Select Aircraft Type " British Aerospace Jetstream 32".
• Leave the Versions field empty or define the target version.
• Define a Color for the equipment code. This may be used to paint the leg color if set to do so in the user preferences.
• Click the Active checkbox and optionally the Default checkbox.
• Click the SAVE button.

Window: Aircraft Configuration

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Configuration

Description

Define the Aircraft Configuration:

For example:

• Enter the Name: "Y19".
• Enter the Shortcode: "Y19".
• Enter the number of Jump Seats (Optional).
• Click on ADD to select one or more Load Class. Note: If the load classes are not defined, you will need to create them first.  
• Enter the seating capacity Seats for each Load Class.
• Click the Active checkbox and optionally the Default checkbox.
• Click the SAVE button.

Window: Weight Groups

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Weight Groups

Description

Define the Weight Groups:

For example:

• Enter the Name: "Light".
• Enter the Shortcode: "L".
• Enter the Minimum Weight.
• Enter the Maximum Weight.
• Click the SAVE button.

Create a new Version

 Prerequisites: Before you proceed, ensure that you have already defined the following: 

• Aircraft Type
• Aircraft Configuration.

Description

Define the new version. For example:

• Click the New button to create a new Version. 
• Enter the Name: "J32-1".
• Enter the Shortcode: "J32-1".
• Select the Aircraft Type: " J32 - British Aerospace Jetstream 32".
• Click on ADD to select one or more Aircraft Configuration.
• Click the Active checkbox and optionally the Default checkbox.
• Click the SAVE button.

Create a new Registration

Prerequisites: Before you proceed, ensure that you have already defined the following: 

• Owner (Company)
• Prefix
• Aircraft Type
• Aircraft Version.

Location

Editors > Aircraft > Aircraft

Description

Define the new registration. For example:

• Click the New button to create a new aircraft registration. 
• Enter the Name: "ABCDE".
• Select the Owner: "ABC Airlines"
  Note: Aircraft Owner derives from Prefixes.
• Select the (Aircraft) Type: "J32 - British Aerospace Jetstream 32".
• Select the Version: "J32-1 - J32-1".
• Choose a Weight Group.
• Enter '1' in the Compartment tab. (This is so that the user can send/receive LDM messages).
• Click the Active checkbox and optionally the Default checkbox.
• Click the SAVE button.
