Tail Assign Optimizer
The Tail Assignment optimizer in N-OC Desktop is a tool used to assign flights to aircraft by either:
- using simple assignment principles (such as ‘first in first out’/’last in first out’)
- by optimization.
There are several different predefined objectives the Optimizer can work towards. For example, to make the aircraft follow the crew pairings or to reduce unnecessary ground time for aircraft.
Refer to the Tail Assign Optimizer article.
Legality
This tool allows you to define or recalculate the aircraft legality counters of some or all of the fleet. For example, if you introduce a new aircraft to your fleet, you can add the accumulated hours, and cycles into N-OC in order to get the “lifetime” included in the calculation.
Normally, all calculations are done automatically in the background. If you introduce a new calculator or a new schedule rule, you will need to use this Wizard to generate values for this new calculator in the selected period.
When opening the Legality, you have the option to update calculators:
- You can filter on Time range, Main types, Type, Version or filter, but this is not mandatory.
- Select All (fleet) - You have the option to consider only active vehicles or all vehicles in the database. This means that you can work with all available registrations at once or choose a specific one. To work with only one, click that registration then the Next button.
- In the next step, you will choose your action for Legality Violations and Accumulated Values.
Legality Violations Options
Options | Description |
None | If selected, it will not be included in the run. |
Reset violations | If selected, it recalculates the rules. |
Clear violations | If selected, it clears legality warnings. |
Accumulated Values Options
Options | Description |
None | If selected, it will not be included in the run. |
Reset accumulated values | If selected, it recalculates the values |
Clear accumulated values | If selected, it clears stored values. |
- After, choose your calculators either All or mark specific ones (to mark more than one, Ctrl + left click).
Click the Next button and the system will calculate. Click the Done button when finished.
Accumulated Values
With this option, you can update the accumulated values for an aircraft. You will get to a window where you can select the aircraft and counter to be defined. Note: It may be initially empty.
- To add a new row, click the Add New Row button. A new row will be added.
- Select one of the available labels. The date is the date you are assigning the value to.
- Value time is the amount of time, for example if you have selected to add BLH calculator value. You can add the BLH value day by day or you can add a larger amount on a given day.
Note: The Value Time is in the format H:MM. Value numeric is not used. - Click the Finish button.
Generate Rotation File from SSIM File
A rotation file can be used to import a tail assignment from a different source. The rotation can be imported by Sleipner via a comm channel of type FileDir. FTP or Email and the type should be set to ImportTemplate.
Refer to the Rotation file article for further information.
