Requesting a Duty Trade

Introduction

Requesting a Duty Trade

Using the trade board to request a trade with another crew member.

We estimate that this will take 3 minutes to complete.

Detailed Explanation

In this topic, let's request a trade for a rostered duty with another crew member. For this example, we are logged in as crew number 58144 and are requesting a trade with 57532.

Interaction 1 Click the Menu button.

Interaction 2 Click the Trade board button.

You can request a duty trade for dates that are in the future only. Different airlines will have different rules on how close to check-in time you are allowed to request a trade. Typically, this will be a few hours before you are due to start.

This demonstration was made on 24th Oct 2019, so we need to move down the list so we are viewing duties in the future.

Interaction 1 Click the Scroll Down scroll bar.

Interaction 1 Click the Tue 29th row.

The row has expanded, but we need to scroll down again to see the contents.

Interaction 1 Click the Scroll Down vertical scroll bar.

This duty is over several days. We will select the starting activity.

Typically, you can only trade one or more duties that start and end at the same base, but this can be configured according to company rules.

Interaction 1 Click the NB5788 cell.

This green block highlights all duties between the starting base and the ending base for the activity and the duties that you are requesting to trade.

Interaction 1 Click the Two way button.

We now need to select the crew member that you want to request a trade with.

Interaction 1 Click the Select a person below dropdown button.

You can either scroll up and down through the list looking for the person you want to trade with, or if you know their employee number you can jump straight to them by typing it in.

Interaction 2 Enter 57532 into the Select a person below field.

Interaction 1 Click the 57532, FARR, SCHERPF list item.

Use the Comment field to send a message to the person you are requesting a trade with. Please be cordial.

Interaction 1 Click the Comment input field.

Interaction 2 Enter Can we swap please? into the Comment field.

Interaction 3 Click the Show Roster button.

We are now viewing the other person's roster.

My Tradable roster activities are the duties that were just highlighted in green.

Interaction 1 Click the Scroll Down vertical scroll bar.

For the purposes of this demonstration we are opting to trade duties with the other person on the same date, but this doesn't necessarily have to be the case. As long as the duties are in the future, you can request a trade.

Interaction 1 Click the Tue 29th table cell.

Interaction 1 Click the Scroll Down vertical scroll bar.

We now need to select the duties that we want to trade.

Interaction 1 Click the NB5745 table cell.

Interaction 1 Click the Submit button.

The message in yellow indicates that the trade request has been sent to the other crew member.

We will now logout and view the other crew member's trade board.

Interaction 1 Click the Logout button.

We are now logged in as 57532 and we can take a look at how the duty trade request is seen.

Interaction 1 Click the Menu button.

Interaction 2 Click the Trade board button.

The trade details are displayed under the Offered One-Way/Two-Way Trades.

Interaction 1 Click the Offered row.

Clicking on a row expands it.

This is what is being offered from 58144 and associated user.

This is what the user 58144 wants to pick up from user 57532.

Interaction 1 Click the Accept button.

The message from the requester can be seen here.

This message indicates that the trade has been successful. If a rule has been violated or if there is a legality constraint that means the trade cannot be made, then a violation message will be shown.

For the purposes of this demonstration, let's log out and go back into the system as the original requester (57532), to see what their view.

Interaction 1 Click the Logout button.

Interaction 1 Click the Menu button.

Interaction 2 Click the Trade board button.

This message confirms to the original requester that the duties traded have been successful.

Interaction 1 Click the OK button.
